Wreckers re-opens in Charlestown

Sitting on the Sun Soaked Terrace with a large bowl of Mussels and a glass of crisp chilled wine you would be forgiven for believing you must be somewhere on the Mediterranean coast as you watch the sparkling Sea and the Tall Ships bobbing in the harbour. But this is Wreckers in Charlestown and it was this fantastic location that attracted the new owners of the waterside Restaurant formerly known as Revival.

The venue provided the ideal opportunity to move Wreckers from its quayside position in Mevagissey to much-needed larger premises whilst keeping the spirit of the Restaurant. The name harking back to the days when hospitality in Cornwall was not quite of today’s standards, suits the recently refurbished Old Boat Shed with it’s quirky bent Roof, Hand crafted Beams and Black Ironwork that literally holds the building together.

Trading as a Café, Wine Bar and Bistro, Wreckers is the youngest of three Restaurants owned by the partners Keith Vernon, Melanie and Glynn Evans. The Wheel House Restaurant and Quay West Wine Bar are the others in the group’s portfolio and nestle side by side on the Quay in Mevagissey. Over the last five years the partners and a strong team have worked to build a reputation for the finest Fresh Fish, becoming licensed Fish Merchants in order to land Fish straight from the Quay to the Restaurants. Customers enjoying picking out the Boat that landed the Fish they are eating.

Wreckers like the others has been carefully crafted by the groups consulting arm, Qwest Consulting Ltd. All three have very different menus and design but revolve around a tried and tested formula.
The partners are delighted to welcome Carl Milton as their new Chef Director for the group who has successfully opened Wreckers at the end of March to glowing reviews.

Opening daily from 9am the Bistro serves Espresso Coffees and Fresh Cakes alongside a Lunch Menu that offers Tapas Style Light bites, Sumptuous Open Sandwiches, Fresh Fish and Seafood.
With Main courses starting at just £9.95 the Evening Menu is designed to provide affordable less formal dining and features dishes such as Cornish Lamb Fillet with a Redcurrant Jus and Line Caught Sea Bass with Seared Scallops. A mutual love of Wine has created an equally well-priced Wine list from Fowey Wines who supply all three Restaurants with a beautifully balanced selection from around the world.

In such a location, the Restaurant lends itself perfectly to functions and weddings, a Marquee easily being erected on the Terrace and overlooking the Tall Ships to cater for larger Parties. Functions can be arranged from a simple Barbeque on the Terrace to a full Formal Dinner.
